In contrast to its second wine (see above), Montrose comprises 65% Cabernet Sauvignon. Inky, intense, vivid hue. The aromas reveal restrained yet ripe cherry and plum fruit, with a smoky, meaty edge. The palate is tightly wound, showing deep, dark, almost brooding fruit. There is a firm tannic backbone to this vintage, plenty of substance too, and there is an earthy mineral seam. Definitely a wine for the future.
