2004 Château Rauzan-Gassies, Cru Classé Margaux
It is hard to recall the last time that we purchased from this property; nonetheless the 2004 marks a notable return to bygone successes. Vibrant deep fruit aromas are gently expressed, whilst the palate is all about a silky sense of refinement – very smooth and very margaux. There is a modest backbone here that suggests mid-term rather than long-term ageing together with ample dark fruits and a fine touch of freshness undercutting the fruit from start to finish. A fine value anticipated.
