2003 Château Lafite-Rothschild, 1er Cru Pauillac

Great Cabernet Sauvignon is the focus of the 2003 vintage at this famous vineyard, constituting 86% of the final blend with the balance comprising Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Again the tiny yields are the key characteristic, registering at just 32 hectolitres per hectare. This creates a superbly-structured wine, brilliant purple in colour with open plum fruit aromas. On the palate one is struck by the wine’s natural harmony, it is round and full, with hints of cocoa; a very appealing style with longevity to the fore.
