Château Lynch-Bages
The extremely popular Château Lynch-Bages lies on a gravel ridge overlooking the Gironde Estuary to the west of the town of Pauillac. Punching well above its Fifth Growth status, Lynch-Bages has a devoted following. So loyal that it made history in 1985 when a French astronaut took a bottle of 1975 Lynch-Bages into space, making it the first wine to leave the planet.
More recently, there has been a huge investment and regeneration program undertaken by the Cazes family, who have been leading the estate since the 1930s, including a brand new cellar that will be completed shortly. Jean-Michel Cazes’ impressive efforts to promote the wines of Bordeaux in general did wonders to increase the popularity of his own Lynch-Bages. Today, Jean-Charles Cazes heads the château which also makes a second wine, Echo de Lynch-Bages and a white, Blanc de Lynch-Bages.
