Domaine Marcel Couturier
Marcel Couturier is a winemaker with a strong sense of identity and clarity of vision. From his domaine in the commune of Fuissé, a small town overlooking the village of Loché, he makes white Burgundy which demonstrates the quality potential of the Mâconnais. He comes from a family of cattle and cereal farmers, but an uncle who owned a small vineyard sparked his interest in wine and Marcel released his first vintage in 2005. He now owns around 10 hectares of Chardonnay plantings, many of which are old vines, spread across all the appellations of the Southern Mâconnais, including Pouilly-Loché. His two children, Cladie and Auxence have joined him and their shared passion for their work is evident. The domaine was certified organic in 2021 and is aiming to be fully biodynamic by 2022, while their focus on single vineyard wines, which is not often the norm in the Mâconnais, has resulted in a range of wines which are crisp, pure and individually characterful.
