Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg
Sisters Marie-Christine and Marie-Andrée make some of Burgundy’s greatest wines from their cellars in Vosne-Romanée. Their wines are elegant and classy with an unrivalled luxurious richness and finesse. Their children, Lucie, Fanny and Marion, have also joined the domaine and they continue the female legacy which now spans across three generations and six women. (Lucie has now had a son - the first boy in the family since 1928.) They hold some prized Pinot Noir plots across over eight hectares in Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-St-Georges, Gevrey-Chambertin and Flagey-Echezeaux, with their top wines coming from grands crus Clos Vougeot, Ruchottes-Chambertin and Echezeaux. Their winemaking is traditional: hand harvesting, rigorous selection with almost everything destemmed and gentle oak ageing - everything done to ensure they extract the finest qualities from their ripe, low-yielding Pinot Noir. These are fine red Burgundies in a class of their own.
