Brothers Florent and David Viale own close to 17 hectares of prime Northern Rhône vineyards in Hermitage and Crozes-Hermitage. The domaine used to sell its grapes to Rhône stalwarts Guigal and Ogier, such was the quality of their vineyards, but since the early 90s they have bottled their own wines. Their white Marsanne-Roussanne blends are beautifully balanced and their penchant for limiting new oak, preferring instead large oak tonneaux, gives them a naturally fruity expression. Their Crozes-Hermitage comes from parcels which line the boundary of the revered Hermitage hill, giving them some of the finest plots in the region.
In the cellar, the Viales prefer oak not to dominate the purity of the fruit.
