Domaine du Cayron has been in the hands of the Faraud family for five generations. It is nestled in the village of Gigondas at the base of the towering Dentelles de Montmirail in the Southern Rhône. Sisters Delphine, Cendrine and Roseline make a traditionally-styled, age-worthy wine which epitomises Gigondas. They make just one wine, even though their grapes are grown across 17 hectares of well-placed vines in 20 separate plotsaround the appellation, including 2 hectares of 70-year-old vines grown at high altitude. Though their style is traditional, they have mellowed their winemaking to embrace more modern winemaking techniques like the installation of a pneumatic press in 2015. However, all of their methods ensure that their wine preserves the wonderful flavours, structure and complexity that Gigondas is famed for. Hand harvesting, intensive sorting, and ageing in old oak foudres all allow the domaine’s character to shine through.
“The wines from Domaine du Cayron offer singular, classic and downright Provençal characters that I absolutely love” Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate
