More About Contucci

Contucci is the oldest producer in Montepulciano. It outdates the second oldest by 900 years - they were only founded in 1925.

Contucci have been in their impressive headquarters, a palazzo in the cathedral square, for a relatively brief 360 years.

Alamanno Contucci is currently at the helm, an impressive man who, in his other role as president of the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, the body responsible for the region’s wines, was responsible for upping not only the quality of Contucci, but the quality of Vino Nobile as a whole.

As you’d expect with the estate’s history, it’s a traditional Tuscan producer. They still grow olives and wheat alongside the vines. And they produce a traditional Vino Nobile, unhurried and structured.

The Mulinvecchio comes from a single vineyard in one of the higher points of the estate. This added altitude protects its freshness and fruit purity that makes it the pick of their wines.
