Château Haut-Bages-Libéral
Fifth Growth Haut-Bages-Libéral has a tendency to hide in the substantial shadows of its lofty neighbours, although its potential is clear. There are three distinct, well-situated vineyard plots; one adjacent to the illustrious Château Latour, one which neighbours the two Pichons, Baron and Longueville, and one slightly further afield next to Grand-Puy-Lacoste, sitting on both Pauillac’s deep gravel soils, and also clay-limestone mix. Claire Villars is at the helm - her grandfather bought the estate in the 1980s through his Taillan Group, who also own Chasse-Spleen and Gruaud-Larose. She works alongside winemaker Alain Sutrebiodynamic farming certification.
