Château Doisy-Daëne
Doisy-Daëne is a top performing First Growth Sauternes which offers a tempting price to quality ratio and is a much anticipated release each vintage. Its weight, freshness and fine craftsmanship is down to the labour intensive method in which the top sweet wines are made; hand harvesting over several passes to take only the grapes at their optimum level of botrytised sweetness. Doisy-Daëne has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924 and was made by legendary winemaker until his sad passing in 2016; his drive and energy was key to propelling the château to the top and it remains a perennial favourite. The property's name derives from its earliest owner, Jean Jacques Emmanuel Daêne, following its split from the larger Doisy estate in the early 19th century. Alongside the Grand Vin, a racy, dry white is also made.
