Château Clerc Milon
Fifth Growth Clerc Milon sits in an enviable position between two Pauillac icons - Château Lafite and Château Mouton and is part of the same stable. The estate dates back to the French Revolution when large parcels of vines were sold off. It was bought by the Clerc family who added their name to the parcel of vines they acquired just outside the town of Milon. However the estate remained largely unknown until the Rothschilds purchased it in 1970, and have systematically improved and modernised it. Recognising its potential and great terroir, their investments have included a state-of-the-art winery powered by photovoltaic panels, a gravity-fed vat room and a new tasting room. Clerc Milon’s 41 hectares of vines overlook the Gironde and are treated with the same level of attention as those over at neighbouring Mouton - limited use of pesticides, careful parcel selection and hand harvesting.
