Cave Rousset
Don’t be put off by Domaine Rousset’s small stature. Though they have just 11 hectares, a smattering of which lie in Saint-Joseph, but the heart of their vineyards lie in Crozes-Hermitage in the Northern Rhône. It is headed by Stéphane Rousset, the tenth generation of vignerons in his family. He has worked alongside his father Robert for many years and it was his grandfather who started the domaine in 1956. Their classic Crozes-Hermitage comes from Syrah vines planted between 120-300 metres high, and delivers wonderfully crunchy fruit, and a lively freshness. Their famous south-facing schist-terraced Les Picaudières produces an age-worthy, expressive, sumptuous wine. The wines are all 100% destemmed and aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels.
