Barone di Villagrande
Situated to the east of Mount Etna, the Nicolosi family have farmed these lands since the 17th
century, with Don Carmelo Nicolosi named Baron of Villagrande by Emperor Charles VI of Augsburg
in 1727. So they’ve been making Etna wines since long before it became cool. And when Etna was
made a DOC in 1968, descendant Carlo Nicolosi Asmundo was key in seeing it through. This is
as historic as Etna gets. Now it’s Marco at the helm, and the wines are some of the most complex,
charming and expressive wines from anywhere in Italy.
