Inama is not only one of the top producers of Soave, but one of the most exciting and innovative producers of white wine in Italy today. They are not afraid to invest in research and development and their experiments over the years are now really paying dividends. This quality-focused family producer makes wine with a lovely minerality. At the entry level they crisp fresh clean and mineral and at the pinnacle of their range they are aiming to give Burgundy a run for its money. They are turning out some beautiful ageworthy wines that will delight many.

2022 Soave Classico I Palchi, Inama, Veneto White | Still

I Palchi is Inama’s answer to white Burgundy. This is a selection of the best fruit from within the Focarino vineyard. The winemaking sees fermentation in 50% large oak barrels, 30% in small barriques with 20% in steel tanks. The gorgeous nose has notes of citrus, green apple, pear, almond and ginger and the palate has an ample and gorgeous texture. There is stone fruit, lime, herbs and lots of coiled energy. It finishes fresh and very long indeed - this is a serious and delicious wine.

 
2023 Soave Classico Vigneti di Foscarino, Inama, Veneto White | Still

Inama's Foscarino is 100% single vineyard Garganega from volcanic soils. The winemaking sees a mixture of large oak barrels, used barrique and stainless steel tanks. The nose opens with delicate aromas of wildflower, pear and green apple with hints of honey and spice. The palate is rich and complex, with lots of layers of citrus fruit and minerality. This is really long with satisfying salinity, energy and balance. This is a classy Soave that will delight.

 
2023 Soave Classico Vigneti di Carbonare, Inama, Veneto White | Still

Inama’s Carbonare is another single vineyard Garganega on volcanic soils but a different interpretation than Foscarino. Carbonare goes through fermentation and ageing only in stainless steel tanks. It has a pretty nose of pear, melon, crushed rocks and herbs. The palate has laser like focus and energy with really pure fruited peach and apricot. It is very moreish and remains fresh all the way to the long finish.

 
2025 Vin Soave, Soave Classico, Inama, Veneto White | Still

Inama's Vin Soave is a wine for many occasions. 100% Garganega from Volcanic soils across their vineyard holdings, fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. The 2025 has an elegant nose of elderflower and chamomile, with a really well balanced, crisp and fresh palate. There is some orange zest, green apple and loads of crisp minerality with a touch of almonds on the finish. This is a wine that you won't tire of and is excellent value.

 

Petrolo

Petrolo is a terrific Tuscan estate located in Valdarno di Sopra. Run by the Sanjust family since the 1940s, the farm organically to produce a range of pure and interesting Sangiovese, as well a Trebbiano (featured below) but their prestige cuvee Galatrona is a 100% Merlot and often compared to top Pomerols.

2024 Bòggina Bianco, Petrolo, Tuscany White | Still

Trebbiano di Valdarno was historically prized back as early as the 14th century by Popes and the courts of Florence. The brilliant winemaking team at Petrolo are helping it go through a resurgence. Although better known for the Galatrona Merlot, this Trebbiano 'Boggina B' is an under the radar gem. It has a lovely nose of honeysuckle, lemon, peach and chamomile. The palate is medium bodied with a really terrific texture, lots of citrus character, honey and nuts. The length goes on and on.

2022 Trebbiano, Tiberio, Abruzzo Dry | White | Still | 13.5%

Tiberio is one of the leading producers of Trebbiano in the world and their Fonte Canale is a huge hit among Michelin star sommeliers. This so called 'entry-level' Trebbiano d'Abruzzo is truly delicious. It opens with floral aromas, granny smith apple, ripe peaches and melon. It is medium bodied and the palate brings plenty of lemon zest and minerality with long finish. This is a wine which will create many new Trebbiano lovers.

2023 Fiano di Avellino Riserva Vino della Stella, Joaquin, Campania White | Still

The volcanic soils of Avellino is where Itay's top Fianos are from. The Vino della Stella is a truly stellar Avellino Riserva from a tiny 0.9 hectare parcel. It is bright yellow in colour, with a rich bouquet of tropical fruit, fleshy pear, toasted almonds, honey and anise. The palate is more savoury in style with a mineral feel, plenty of refreshing acidity and hints of spice.

Michele Chiarlo

Michele Chiarlo is one of Piedmont's most prestigious wine producers, creating outstanding wines from some of the most exceptional sites in Piedmont. Founded in 1956 by the great Michele Chiarlo and now run by his sons Alberto and Stefano, the Chiarlo philosophy “is to capture the terroir” from their sustainably cultivated vineyards, which hold the Equalitas certification. With a judicious use of oak, they hand-craft a selection of wines suitable for ageing and some which can be enjoyed earlier.

2019 Gavi Fornaci, Michele Chiarlo Dry | White | Still | 12.5%

The Fornaci is the top expression of Gavi from Michele Chiarlo from an excellent vineyard site. The 2019 has a rich intense nose, with floral notes, grapefruit, anise and acacia honey. The palate is a rich and complex style with white fruit balanced out with lovely citrus and fresh finish.

Alois Lageder

Alois Lageder has a rich, family-owned heritage spanning six generations. Each generation has shaped the company in its own unique way. In 1823, Johann Lageder laid the foundation stone and began trading in wine alongside his work as a wagon maker. Subsequently, his successors bought the first vineyards and began making wine themselves. A significant development occurred in 1934 when the family acquired the Löwengang Estate in Magrè, where their headquarters are still located today. In the 1990s, they set out to achieve a level of quality that was not only pioneering for their winery but also for the Alto Adige wine region. With a holistic approach to viticulture, the vineyards are cultivated biodynamically and they encourage their viticultural partners to adopt either organic or biodynamic practices. Their stylish wines capture their distinctive geographical heritage with artisanal flair.

2022 Pinot Bianco Classico, Alois Lageder Dry | White | Still | 12.5%

Lageder's Pinot Bianco is a delight. The nose is aromatic and expressive, revealing delicate floral aromas alongside crisp notes of green apple, unripe pear, and subtle mineral undertones. The palate is medium-bodied, wonderfully balanced, and fresh, showing a lively, direct personality with a clean, persistent finish.

Vietti

The Vietti family has produced fine wine from the heart of the Langhe since the 1800s, when Carlo Vietti established the winery in the medieval village of Castiglione Falletto. At the end of the 1950s, Alfredo Currado, husband of Luciana Vietti, introduced the idea of producing single vineyard crus in Barolo and Barbaresco and in 1961 one of the very first Barolo Crus was produced by Vietti: Rocche di Castiglione. Alfredo was known locally as the ‘Father of Arneis’ as he dedicated time and research into reviving the nearly extinct Arneis variety. Passionate about fine art, in 1974 Alfredo and Luciana started incorporating beautiful works of art on their iconic wine labels. In the 1990s their son and fourth generation winemaker, Luca Currado Vietti, continued the family winemaking legacy. In 2016, the Krause family purchased Vietti and worked alongside Luca until his retirement in 2023. They further developed the estate with the purchase of new, renowned crus in Barolo and Barbaresco, and in Colli Tortonesi where Timorasso flourishes. In 2022, Vietti was awarded 'Winery of the Year' by Antonio Galloni, Vinous.

2024 Timorasso, Derthona, Vietti Dry | White | Still | 13.5%

Vietti's Timorasso 2024 is a real treat. It is a blend from 3 sites within the Derthona appellation, which is the spiritual home top Timorasso. Some call this the White Barolo, but Chablis is also a fair comparison. 2024 is a slightly cooler vintage, with beautiful citrus, floral notes, peach and some dried herbs. A bit of lees contact gives this a lovely texture. It has good length and a satisfying finish.

Feudi di San Gregorio

Feudi di San Gregorio is the King of Campania. They are one of the main protagonists of the renaissance of Southern Italian wines. Since their founding in 1986 they have earned an amazing reputation for world class wines, based protecting traditional practices and indigenous varietals. They have even sold old vine pre-phylloxera Aglianico that is over 150 years old (some of the oldest vines in Europe.) In 2021, they achieved B-Corp status and featured in Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries. They have also launched a project to create heritage wines within the walls of Pompeii. But even with their huge focus on heritage at Feudi things never stand still.

2019 Greco di Tufo Riserva Cutizzi, Feudi di San Gregorio Dry | White | Still | 12.5%

The Cutizzi is a single vineyard Greco di Tufo Riserva, planted around 500 metres above sea level, and one of the flagship whites of Campania titan Feudi San Gregorio. The mountainous mineral soil produces low yielding Greco of real concentration. This 2019 has lovely notes of white flower, pears, green apple and wet stone. The palate is really gastronomic, with great structure and really long length finishing very delicately.

Santa Maria La Nave

This small, authentic boutique winery on Mount Etna, was established by Giuseppe "Peppino" Mulone in 1954. Santa Maria la Nave grows indigenous varieties such as Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio in an ancient vineyard with rich, fertile volcanic soils. Passion and respect for the unique microclimate, along with artisanal vinification, are at the heart of the Santa Maria La Nave project. Produced in small quantities, from dramatic surroundings, these are exquisite, food-friendly wines.

2020 Grecanico Dorato, Millesulmare, Santa Maria La Neve Dry | White | Still | 12%

A bright and fine example of Grecanico Dorato, delivering an explosive aromatic entrance. Etnean apple gives way to delicate accents of white peach, pineapple and citrus notes. Vanilla and white pepper is underpinned by its distinctive minerality. Dry, with a balanced acidity, this elegant and harmonious wine has a lovely persistent finish.

2013 D'Antan Gavi dei Gavi, La Scolca White | Still | 11.5%

D'Antan is the ultimate expression of Gavi from the region's most historic producer. It is a selection of their best fruit, only made in the very best vintages to highlight the how timeless and well suited to ageing a top expression of Gavi can be. This 2013 vintage spent at least 10 years ageing on lees in the estates cellars. It has a complex bouquet of white flower, ripe orchard fruit, honey, candied citrus with some delicate spices and flint. The palate is rich but elegan, with real length, minerality and tension.

Giovanni Almondo

This Roero estate is quickly making headlines as a source of not only great value Nebbiolo, just across the Tanaro river from Barbaresco, but also stunning Arneis, one of the great local white grapes of Piedmont. Run by brothers Stefano and Federico with their father, Domenico, they've 600 years of family history here, though they only started to make wine since removing fruit trees to make way for vines in 1980. It's an estate to watch closely.

2023 Roero Arneis, Bricco delle Ciliegie, Giovanni Almondo Dry | White | Still | 13%

From a site on the top of the hill, this really is an Arneis apart. So mineral, fresh, with a fine thread of acidity, and such texture on the finish. This is wonderfully judged: it’s fresh, fine, and utterly delicious.

Girolamo Russo

If Etna is the Burgundy of the Mediterranean, then Girolamo Russo is one of the producers contributing to that reputation. Winemaker Giuseppe Russo crafts hugely elegant, energetic, balanced and clean wines. They have around 15 hectares of high altitude volcanic vineyards up to 800 metres above sea level, on the cooler Northern slopes of Mount Etna. Sadly some of their bottlings are miniscule, with the Piano delle Colombe from the San Lorenzo vineyard producing less than 150 cases for the world. We strongly encourage you to seek these wines out. As Monica Larner from Wine Advocate said "Giuseppe Russo makes some of the best wines on Etna. Full stop."

2023 Etna Bianco Feudo, Girolamo Russo White | Still | 12.5%

This Etna Bianco from Girolamo Russo is 100% Carricante from the Feudo vineyard or Contrada, sitting 650 metres above sea level on volcanic soils. It offers up lovely lemony notes with ripe peach, pear and flinty mineral aromas that give it depth and character. It is medium bodied with a good core of energy and focus, finishing long a fresh. The sadly they only make around 160 cases.

Marco Sara

Marco took over the reins of his small family estate in 2000, and immediately started bottling his own wines, where previously they had been sold off in bulk. The estate consists of just seven hectares of vines in the Colli Orientali, the hills that separate Italy from Slovenia. He converted the estate to organic viticulture in 2005, and using indigenous yeast and simple winemaking, he makes pure, vibrant expressions of local grape varieties.

2021 Ribolla Gialla, Marco Sara, Colli Orientali del Friuli Dry | White | Still | 12.5%

Ribolla Gialla is not a well known varietal. This 2021 from Marco Sara is ripe fruit-forward with plenty of bright green apple, backed up with crisp citrus, grapefruit and acacia. It finishes with a mineral salty mineral flourish, that ties it all together nicely.

Pieropan

Pieropan have been situated in the heart of the village of Soave since 1880, and now make the best white wines in the commune. They purchased La Rocca vineyard in 1978, a stunning south-west facing site in the shadow of Soave’s 10th century castle. It’s a site famed for the ripeness the grapes attain, and the expressive perfume of their wines. If there were a white Grand Cru of Italy, then La Rocca from Pieropan would lay serious claim to such a title.

2025 Soave Classico, Pieropan White | Still | 12%

The Soave Classico is a great value entry point for Pieropan - a blend of Garganega and Trebbiano di Soave, sourced from hillside vineyards across the Soave Classico region. The 2025 has a very aromatic nose with plenty of white flower, some tropical fruit and citrus. The palate has peach, melon lemon and a touch of minerality. Dependable as always.

 
2024 La Rocca, Pieropan, Soave Classico White | Still | 12.5%

La Rocca is Pieropan’s top single vineyard white. Unlike Calvarino it sees some use of oak, with fermentation in a mixture of stainless steel and large oak cask. It is then aged in a mixture of 500 litre and 2,000 litre oak casks on its lees, which adds some lovely texture to the wine. The nose has stone and tropical fruit, hints of lemon with some almond and spices. This has a bit more structure but still a lovely energy and plenty of minerality.

 
2024 Calvarino, Pieropan, Soave Classico White | Still | 12.5%

Calvarino comes from a steep rocky vineyard in the north west of the appellation. It was one of the first single vineyard designated whites in Italy in 1973. The 2024, as usual sees no oak, fermenting in glass lined cement tanks and then ageing on the lees. It has white stone fruit, melon and floral aromas. The palate has a linear mineral-focused structure,with a vibrant and clean finish.
