2014 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, Cru Classé St-Julien

Ducru characterise the vintage with the Churchill quotation, 'never, never, never give up'. This philosophy certainly seems to have worked for charismatic owner Bruno Borie and his team. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot has resulted in a wine of incredible depth, wonderful opulence but all perfectly balanced. The tannins are perfectly fine, and this has excellent length and complexity. A real delight, and up there with the best of the week.
