The classification Vin de Pays that came in during the 1970s was replaced by the term IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) in 2009. In practice not much has changed, however, and the pity is that there remains a lot of substandard wine produced under this category. However, like Vin de France, Vin de Pays offers opportunities for forward-thinking winemakers without the constraints of more specific appellations. Rest-assured that the Vin de Pays wines we offer fit squarely into this category.
