Australia - New South Wales Wine
Australia’s most populous state, the vinous development of New South Wales lags behind that of some of its neighbours; something that is currently in a state of change. The Hunter Valley remains the key wine region of this large state, where the whites tend to be better than the reds. Semillon is the stand out grape here, where cloudy days allow the vines to ripen the fruit fully without reaching outrageous levels of alcohol. The results can be surprising, and rather impressive.
