Château La Conseillante
La Conseillante boasts prime Pomerol terroir and a 150-year family heritage, with what Jancis Robinson describes as a “long track record of excellence.” From its position on the Pomerol plateau, it neighbours Vieux Château Certan and L’Evangile and overlooks the border with St-Emilion. Catherine Conseillan gave her name to the estate when she bought the vines in the mid-18th century, and the Nicolas family have owned it since 1871. Today, the estate is managed by three brothers, Bertrand, Jean-Valmy and Henri Nicolas. Marielle Cazaux heads the winemaking team and has done since 2015, coming across from nearby Petit-Village, and lifting the estate to a new level of quality. The Grand Vin is Merlot based, with around 20% Cabernet Franc adding structure and freshness.
