2006 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Font de Michelle
Font de Michelle is a sizeable domaine with 30 hectares of vines, including the famous plateau of Le Crau. The style of winemaking here leans towards elegance with a refined, silky expression.The 2006 offers pure aromas of finely spiced loganberry and raspberry with some cherry too. A lovely freshness is revealed on the palate with dusky summer fruits allied to savoury, meaty notes and the herbal characters of garrigue. The soft, caressing nature of the tannins underlines the elegance of this exemplary châteauneuf. Distinctly peppery throughout, this remains a favourite at this level.
