2009 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux-St-Jacques, Armand Rousseau
The vines in Rousseau's parcel of Lavaux-St-Jacques are between 40- and 45-years-old, and they provide fruit of great intensity and purity. Rousseau's winemaking craft is evident here: the nose is immediately appealing and perfumed, with notes of lavender and a hint of white pepper and clove. The tight tannic structure provides a perfect platform to show off the layers of complexity that this fantastic 1er Cru possesses.
