2007 Vacqueyras Blanc, Vieilles Vignes, Domaine le Clos Des Cazaux

Clairette takes centre stage again, but this time with a quarter of the blend comprising Viognier and the other quarter Roussanne. The aromas are dominated by the exotic peach characters of Viognier, framed with toasty nuances. The palate is soft, viscous with white peach and apricot fruit as well as notes of yellow plum, and vanillin too. A stark contrast to the zippy nature of Les Clefs d'Or, but with a similar minerally persistence lasting long into the finish.
