2005 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Origines, Domaine Grand Veneur, Alain Jaume
This is dense in the glass, almost opaque, with sweet, ripe, smoky blackberry fruit well expressed on the nose. Rich on the palate, with expansive fruit, there is a firm grip of tannins here, but nothing coarse. A bold style with masses of fruit that shows considerable potential for ageing. A fine note of acidity on the finish, which does so much to create a sense of balance, even in such a dense wine.
