An intimate dinner with a rising star of St Emilion
St Emilion has been going through something of a transformation in recent years - more and more exciting and refined wines have been emerging from one of Bordeaux’s largest communes. And few names have impressed as much as Chȃteau Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse.
The sale of this 6.5ha property in 2020 made headlines in national newspapers, with St-Emilion families battling it out to acquire the estate. A last ditch bid from Joséphine, one of 30 Duffau-Lagarrosse family members on the board of the property, and still in her early thirties, was successful. She was backed by one of France’s most notable young entrepreneurs, Prisca Courtin-Clarins, third generation of the family behind cosmetic company Clarins. Against the odds, the estate remained in family hands.
The wines have been outstanding for years now, which is unsurprising considering the situation of the vineyards between Châteaux Canon and Angélus. We are delighted to be joined by Joséphine for this evening to look back at three decades of wine from the estate.
We will be returning to perennial favourite Medlar in Chelsea, where chef owner Joe Mercer Nairne is well-used to pairing top cuisine with the finest wines, in their cosy private dining room.
