This Boal is made from grapes from a small vineyard trained on a pergola so close to the soil that people almost have to lie down in order to pick them. Ricardo comments that this vineyard always produces wines “out of the ordinary, with outstanding concentration paired with a fantastic acidity balancing the wine perfectly” Only 744 half-litre bottles produced. Bottled from cask 307, matured in warehouses a & e. This is superb. It offers a multitude of nuanced, swirling flavours: dried and sweet fruits, orange peel, and exotic spice emerge from the glass. There is a harmony of intense, long lasting flavour, richness, and acidity which gives this wine a real sense of energy. There are many facets to this wine which reveal themselves over the course of the bottle. Try with duck- or goose-liver pâté, creamy blue cheese & hard cheddar, apple tart, fruit cake and treacle sponge.
