This is one of the most astonishing wines I have yet tasted from La Bota. Rather than having the intensely sweet wine produced from the Pedro Ximenez added near bottling to create the “Cream” style, this wine has been aged for a number of decades with the sweetening component already blended in. This makes for a degree of integration and harmony to the wine that is mind-blowing. Incredibly dense yet ethereal and refined nose with hints of raisin, fig, caramel, molasses together with perfumed notes of bergamot. Intense, concentrated and phenomenally harmonious on the attack. The sweetness coats the mid palate and a trace remains on what is an unbelievably long, clean, fresh finish. Broad, round, sweet yet of such age and complexity that the lasting impression is of an almost dry wine due to a finish of such sublime freshness and harmony. This is sensational wine. Profound, complex, long. All the hallmarks of these incredible La Bota sherry selections that we have come to expect.
