2018 Old Vine Chenin Blanc, Raats Family, Stellenbosch

2018 Old Vine Chenin Blanc, Raats Family, Stellenbosch

3 old vineyards – granite and sandstone, all over 35 years old. Richness and texture and finesse. Lovely purity, on the palate. Really nervy and primary, lovely weight and texture, and mineral and grippy, precision and weight. Buy this.

Tasting notes

Three parcels, all of them at least 45 years' old, make up the blend of this egg, oak and stainless steel fermented Chenin from the Polkadraai Hills. Wet stone, beeswax and lime flavours mean that this is almost Riesling like in terms of weight and acidity.
