The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Inglenook is classic Cabernet at its best. Notes of graphite and a hint of coffee meld with dark fruit and tapenade, with a savoury and long and finely structured palate. This is a wine that will hold for a long time: a wine that charts the waters between Napa and Bordeaux beautifully.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a powerful and dense in the glass. Sweet tobacco, menthol, licorice and grilled herbs give the wine its aromatic nuance. This is an especially savory style, with mid-weight structure and linear tannins that need time to soften. This is a super-classic Rutherford Cabernet.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, is a beauty of classicism and balance. Dense purple in color, with notes of crème de cassis, blackberry, cedar wood and forest floor, the wine is full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and pure, with moderate tannins and the potential for 20-25 years of upside. You have to applaud the new bottles and new packaging for the Inglenook wines. This property, purchased by Francis Ford Coppola and his wife Eleanor, remains a relatively large estate of over 235 acres primarily dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon.
