2012 Amon-Ra Shiraz, Glaetzer, Barossa Valley

2012 Amon-Ra Shiraz, Glaetzer, Barossa Valley

King of the Egyptian Gods, Amon–Ra would have been proud of this 97(+) Parker–Point blockbuster, showcasing the exceptionally pure wines produced in Ebenezer – the dry–farmed, 100–year–old–vine valley within Barossa. 2012 has been an excellent vintage for Australian wines, beautifully illustrated by the perfectly ripe, pure fruit on the nose of the Amon–Ra. Big, juicy blackcurrant compote – not a granule of over–ripeness – with wonderful infusion of vanillin–oak spice and underlying coffee. Gorgeous freshness on the palate, this just goes on and on – RWT with a little more guts.
