Coleraine is Te Mata’s flagship wine, a Bordeaux blend that changes vintage on vintage depending on conditions. In 2009, the blend is of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Focussed on the nose, with hedgerow fruit characters and savoury notes coming through with time in the glass. On the palate, blackcurrant and blackberry fruit intertwine with cedar wood notes and a hint of mint on the finish. The tannins are quite serious, providing a tight structure and giving this wine the ability to age gracefully in the medium term.
