This is Murdoch Hill's top Chardonnay, made in tiny quantities. The Rocket has more funky reductive character with struck match and lots of herbal, nutty notes. There's peachy fruit and bright citrus, and a saline note that is somewhat of a signature of Michael's wines. Complex, intriguing, and just delicious.

The nose here on the 2021 Limited Release The Rocket Chardonnay is flinty and funky and oh so good. It has curry leaf, crushed pistachio, a hint of rose petal and leaf, white tea and peach. In the mouth, the wine is concentrated and raw/frank/open/vulnerable. It showcases phenolics, briney acidity and an open-weave fruit profile... it is possible to peer into the very heart of this wine. The fruit was handpicked, whole-bunch pressed and underwent wild ferment in 65% new French barrique and puncheon. It has scintillating, spiraling, spooling acidity through the finish. Charm 101.
