Wheelwright comes from Henschke's most southerly vineyard and is named in tribute to the founding father of the winery Johann Christian Henschke, who was one of the first of the early Barossa German pioneers. This vineyard was first planted in 1868 and the first vintage was made a century later from those same vines. It was first released as a single vineyard wine in 2015 and is full of black olive, salami, bay leaf and rosemary complexity. This sits around a core of broad, pure and precise black fruit that is ripe but refreshing. Tannins are ripe and the whole wine has superb frangrance and a long finish.
