2016 Penfolds Bin 169 Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra

2016 Penfolds Bin 169 Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra

A wine that’s only made in specific vintages, and not since 2010, the 169 is very impressive. Cabernet on the nose, with depth and power. It’s very Coonawarra and very mineral, silky tannins but so much to them. There’s excellent tension here, and it’s very fine with iodine, iron oxide shavings, and pure dark fruit on the finish.

Tasting notes

Leafy cassis notes mark the nose of the 2016 Bin 169 Cabernet Sauvignon. It's also floral yet dense and concentrated. Full-bodied and rich on the palate, it exudes class and balance at the same time. It's a super expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from one of Australia's premier regions for the grape variety, ending on lingering notes of cocoa, cassis and pencil shavings.
