When tasted alongside the Judd it is clear how the vineyard can make a difference to a wine. The McCutcheon is serious and brooding in comparison with rich red berry fruits and spice, plums and fine grained tannins. On the palate there are more layers of flavour with sour cherries and blueberries and something reminiscent of gun flint added into the mix. This is crying out to be kept for some time then decanted and enjoyed with delicious roast lamb.
