This wine is a relatively new addition to Elena's range, which sources grapes from an old parcel (70 year old vines) that her father has been working with for many years. I believe the rich red clay is brining additional breadth to this wine that shows incredible sense of place with its smoky and black pepper profile. Fruit is ripe, often more black fruited, yet with a blood orange note running through. This is a full bodied wine that would certainly benefit with ageing in the cellar, yet a credit to the winemaker who has managed to create balance and purity despite the wine's broad profile.
