2011 Barolo Gavarini Vigna Chiniera, Elio Grasso, Piedmont

2011 Barolo Gavarini Vigna Chiniera, Elio Grasso, Piedmont

The best cru in Monforte, owned entirely by the Grasso family, it boasts the perfect topography for producing Nebbiolo at its finest. Up to 70 year old vines on this fossil-rich soil breed scented wines of pure class. This has a wonderful fragrance again in 2011, with a real core of fruit matching up to the oak. Very fine tannins and a beautifully elegant finish, the gentle weight allows the mineral expression of Nebbiolo to shine.
