The Canalicchio vineyard is halfway up the hill of Montalcino, and this meant La Gerla was in a position to deal well with the heat of August 2009. This Brunello displays freshness and elegance, balancing out the richer, riper flavours from the warmer areas of the estate. This is an excellent example of terroir shining through a difficult year, and the result is a Brunello that will peak early and already provides superbly balanced, elegant flavours.
