Having released the 2009s last year, Renato decided to hold his 2008 Barbaresci back for a further year to allow the wine to soften out from this serious vintage. The extra time in bottle has only added to the sheer depth and polished nature of the fruit from these 70-year-old vines. Multi-layered fruit on the nose with red and black cherries, blueberries and pepper spice; there’s a delectable grip on the palate and superb freshness to match.94 points, Antonio Galloni
