2007 Cepparello, Isole e Olena, Tuscany
Hailing from the best sites on the Isole e Olena estate, whose pine-forest environs Paolo is convinced endow this wine with its unique sappy and resinous quality. Enticing on the nose, with floral red fruit characters and a hint of dusky spice. The palate has an almost-burgundian linear structure, with finely-tuned tannins and a bright acidity. The fruit core is vibrant and pure, balanced by layers of soft, creamy oak and a delicate white flower note that carries through onto the finish. The linear and taut nature of this wine belies the depth that there is at the centre, a depth that will give this the ability to age over several years. 96 Points, The Wine Advocate (Antonio Galloni).
