Notes of soft, supple leather, spice and tar rise immediately from the glass, overlaying pure cherry fruit characters. The palate is more structural and linear than the 2007 normale, with fine, ripe tannins and freshening acidity providing a taut framework for classic cherry and berry fruit. The alluringly complex savoury notes of woodsmoke, cedar and spice linger on the finish. This is a tremendous Brunello Riserva.
