The 2006 Poggio Valente is just entering its drinking window, and is a beautiful example of a ready-to-drink Tuscan red. Notes of pot pourri and exotic spices swirl from the nose, while on the palate there’s still a core of intense cherries, and a hint of mulberry. The tannins are firm but refined, and there’s mouthwatering acidity on the finish. It’s a beautiful wine to enjoy now, or over the next five to ten years.
