2006 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Mulinvecchio, Contucci, Tuscany

2006 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Mulinvecchio, Contucci, Tuscany

This is one of the oldest wine estates in the world. They first cultivated grapes for wine-production as far back as the Renaissance and by 1700 their wines were widely appreciated. The estate produces traditional-style Vino Nobile from 15 hectares within the 170 hectare estate. The Mulinvecchio is their top wine, from a relatively high single vineyard it has a nose of crushed flowers, dried cherries and black tea. The palate has wonderful balance with sour cherries, grippy ripe tannin, complexity and length.
