2004 Barolo La Serra, Gianni Voerzio, Piedmont
The colour is deep and the nose opulent, with tobacco, spice and dark fruits in abundance. This is a big mouthful of wine which seems to expand beyond the volume drunk. This is very different from the 2001 which showed again a similar depth but in a more reserved manner. This is almost flamboyant in style, a striking contradiction to its producer. Good structure and finely integrated tannins. Excellent.
