2001 Brunello di Montalcino, Camigliano, Tuscany
This is a terrific wine with a lovely bright, quite deep garnet colour and one of the most appetising and enticing noses. Laden with pure fresh wild berry, dark cherry and subtle blueberry notes at first, it soon opens out to reveal layers of spice, cedar and gentle oak. The palate is equally appealing with lovely freshness and poise to the fruit coupled with firm but balanced tannins and the hallmark drive of acidity one gets in Italian wines. A superb Brunello with a promising future.
