If I could choose a vintage from Rioja to drink now, it would be 1991. Lopez de Heredia rate 1991 as one of their finest ever vintages and to find 200 cases in one place is quite something. This is a wine packed full of flavours, from red cherry and vanillin to woodsmoke and orange peel, it is hugely complicated, persistent and drinking perfectly now.
