2006 Lo Givot, Celler del Pont, Priorat

Celler del Pont is a boutique winery in the heart of Priorat. Montse Nadal, a professor of oenology whose speciality is the terroir of Priorat, produces just one wine of superb quality from just 5 hectares of vineyards, 3 of which are of Cariñena (Carignan) and Garnatxa (Grenache) vines older than 50 years and planted on steep slopes rich in Llicorella (a crumbly slate). Their first vintage was in 1998 and since then, their reputation has continued to grow.
We are able to offer the beautifully balanced 2006 vintage at a cosiderably keener price than the 2005. Uniquely perfumed with notes of wild flowers, tarry black fruit and slate combined with a richly textured, beautifully extracted palate; this is a demonstration of the hieights attainable in this famous region without the price tag of some.
