2000 Millésime Dégorgement Tardif, Jacquesson

2000 Millésime Dégorgement Tardif, Jacquesson

The Jacquesson Champagne house dates back to 1798. Not strictly speaking a "grower", but with 80% of its production coming from its own vineyards, and the spirit of a small attentive grower, it would be mean to exclude it here. Brothers Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet produce low dosage Champagnes of wonderful elegance and remarkable complexity exclusively from Grand and Premier Cru sites. This late disgorged 2000 is a rare find and a wonderful example from the vintage, drinking perfectly now.

Tasting notes

The 2000 Millesime Dégorgement Tardif is quite a bit more expressive than the 2000 Avize tasted alongside it. Dried flowers, honey, hazelnut, spice and orange peel are some of the many notes that flesh out as this generous, inviting Champagne shows off its personality. Baked apple, brioche and warm, toasty notes add resonance on the creamy finish. The 2000 is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. Disgorged January, 2016. Dosage is 1.5 grams per liter.
