N/V Terroirs Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru, Agrapart & Fils

N/V Terroirs Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Grand Cru, Agrapart & Fils

100% Chardonnay. Agrapart have earned many plaudits for their stunning Blanc de Blancs Champagnes. William Kelley of The WIne Advocate recently wrote, "Pascal Agrapart is one of the Côte de Blancs's finest vignerons, and I have long admired the chiseled but powerful wines he produces." He farms 12 hectares of vines, over half of which are within the grand cru village of Avize. His wines have a vinous character, and a wonderful ability to age. Prices look set to rise for the Agrapart wines, and demand is far outstripping supply, so get them whilst you can. This NV blend comes from the 2014 and 2015 vintages, and has been aged 35 months sur lattes. Its 5g/l dosage is more than supported by the superb depth of fruit.

Tasting notes

The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Terroirs is vibrant and finely sculpted, with tons of citrus and mineral-infused nuances that open up effortlessly in the glass. Light on its feet, tense and wiry, the Terroirs is a great example of the Agrapart house style. A whole range of saline-infused notes bring out the chiseled electricity of Chardonnay from Avize, Oger, Cramant and Oiry, all Grand Cru villages. Dosage: 5 gr/L. Disgorged: May, 2019.

Antonio Galloni, vinous.com (December 2019)
92/100

Disgorged in April 2019 with four grams per liter dosage, Agrapart's NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Terroirs is a blend of 40% 2015 and 60% 2014 and derives from old vines that are around 50 or 60 years old. Mingling notes of citrus oil and white flowers with hints of crushed chalk and rock salt, it's medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with a satiny attack that segues into a ripe and vinous but chalky, tight-knit core.
