2014 Château d'Aussières, Corbières

2014 Château d'Aussières, Corbières

Château Lafite’s southern concern shows much of the same characteristics of its bigger brother. There’s well-judged power balanced with finesse, with the level of fruit one would expect from the south of France.

Tasting notes

Blackcurrants, spice-box, smoked herbs and hints of tobacco all emerge from the gorgeously textured, ripe and polished 2014 Corbières. Made from 60% Syrah, 15% Grenache, 15% Carignan and 10% Mourvèdre, it's medium to full-bodied, elegant and silky on the palate, with present, yet ripe tannin, and impeccable balance. Drink it anytime over the coming decade.

This is a young barrel sample with fantastic freshness and richness plus flower petal, lavender, blackberry, black pepper and tar. Rosemary too. Full body, firm tannins and a long and beautiful finish. A wine that makes you want to drink it already. 60% Syrah, 15% Carignan, 15% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre.
