2009 Les Carrétals, Minervois, Domaine Anne Gros & Jean-Paul Tollot
Made from 100% old vine Carignan and with the winemaking prowess of two of Burgundy's finest producers, this wine was always going to be extraordinary and it did not fail to impress us when tasted with Anne Gros in Burgundy. Slightly reticent on the nose, but this gives way to a layered palate of dark forest fruit and savoury, spice notes. A subtle and attractive minerality gives a delightful freshness and there are lingering notes of garrigue and lavender on the finish. Remarkable.
